Political Science Major Requirements Ucla
Transfer to UCLA from UCSD?
Last year the average GPA of a Political Science Major to UCLA was a 3.65. I have a 3.66, but there are also 2,000 more students applying this year than last year to the university. My question, simply put, is “should I be optimistic about my chances?”
From what I hear, UCLA gives the same consideration to other UC students as it does to community college students.
Pros:
Studied abroad in Germany
Member of Student Council Freshman year
Finished all lower-division requirements for political science
Finished all GE requirements for Thurgood Marshall College
Joined a Fraternity
Cons:
No extensive leadership in college
GPA????? (Good enough?)
Thank you very much for your help. Any response would be greatly appreciated, but if you have any information other than what I have posted, meaning you know something that I don’t already know, that would be best.
I can confirm that UCLA gives priority consideration to intercampus transfers (same as CCC transfers).
UCLA is very academic achievement oriented, so in your case, having the general education and major prerequisite requirements completed by the end of your sophomore year will make you significantly more competitive. Generally speaking, UCLA favors students with excellent grades; extracurriculars are secondary.
Hang in there, the decisions should be out in a month.
