The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming

The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming

$6.91

The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming looks overly cute now, but really, it was pretty hip for 1966. The cold war was in full deep-freeze when this well-meaning comedy tried to thaw things out a little: a Soviet submarine beaches on the New England coast, sending the locals into a paranoid frenzy. The chief pleasure of the film is Alan Arkin as the sub captain; this was Arkin’s first ma…

Daniel Day-Lewis stars as Tomas, the happily irresponsible Czech lover of Milan Kundera’s novel, which is set in Prague just before and during the Soviet invasion in 1968. Lena Olin and Juliette Binoche are the two vastly different women who occupy his attention and to some extent represent different sides of his values and personality. In any case, the character’s decision to flee Russian tanks w…

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

$6.82

Maggie Smith is so witty and commanding in this film, you might forget that the script paints Jean Brodie as an ultimately self-deluding spinster. Dame Maggie won the first of her two Oscars for playing a teacher in 1930s Edinburgh more in thrall to her romantic notions of art and beauty than the real world, a cultivator of worshipping “Brodie Girls.” (She exalts the Mona Lisa and Mussolini with e…

Hardball : How Politics Is Played Told By One Who Knows The Game

$5.99

Hardball, first published in 1988, is like a modern version of Machiavelli’s The Prince, only much more richly illustrated, with anecdotes drawn from talk-show host Chris Matthews’s stint as a congressional staffer (where he worked for, among others, renowned Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill). Discussing such basic principles as “It’s not who you know; it’s who you get to know” and “Don’t get mad,…

Overblown: How Politicians and the Terrorism Industry Inflate National Security Threats, and Why We Believe Them

$10.92

Why have there been no terrorist attacks in the United States since 9/11? It is ridiculously easy for a single person with a bomb-filled backpack, or a single explosives-laden automobile, to launch an attack. So why hasn’t it happened? The answer is surely not the Department of Homeland Security, which cannot stop terrorists from entering the country, legally or otherwise. It is surely not the Ira…

Can anyone help me explain the large differences in the economy?

Please visit http://www2.assist.org/exploring-majors/findDiscipline.do Can anyone tell me the main differences and how I can choose? following majors are available on the campus of the chosen discipline. The campuses that offer identify the main side by great name. Click on the abbreviation of campus next to a large see more information about this important. Agricultural Concentration Bachelor in Business Studies in Agriculture and Economics (CSUSTAN) BS Business Administration (CSUMB) in Business Administration BS in Business Economics option (CSULA) BS Business (CSUCA) Business Economics (pre) BA (UCLA) Bachelor of Business Administration (CSULB, UCI) Economy (pre) BA (UCLA) Economy – BA Economics Option (CSUSB) AB Economics (UCD) Economics and Mathematics (Joint Major) BA (UCSD) BA Economics (CSUB, CSUCA, CSUDH, CSUEB, CSUFRES, CSUFULL, CSULA, CSULB, CSUN, CSU,

It's too long to explain here how each of the main differ. U should consult your advisor and find out what your skills are: What issues are learned quickly? What are the things you enjoy doing? Ideally, you and your advisor is a domain reallyl well do (have an aptitude for), and demand in the labor market. For example, if you like math and computer science, and how to solve problems, then maybe the computer programming for you. Another addition, if you love animals, and agricultural studies may be what you need to go. Whatever the ground that is, it must be that (a) you can get really, really good, (b) you like to do, and even free if you do not have to make a living, and (c) labor market willing to pay to do so. When you have an idea of what kind of career you want to go and then analyze the requirements of the specialization courses in each area: see what courses are Requiem and then read the course descriptions, to say what one learns in this topic. This will help you decide whether really important in a given field. The beauty of education systemis United States which provides great flexibility, recognizing that students are often do not know well yet. Thus, the first two years are generally the same for all, and only to reach the third year you have to choose. You can try a course offered a major (eg, economics), so if you find you do not like, after all, you can make one of your choice instead of a subject mandatory program.

Women and the Democratic Party: The Evolution of EMILY’s List

Formed in 1985 as a political action committee (PAC) to provide select female Democratic candidates with “seed” money to run for federal office, today EMILY’s List is much more than a women’s PAC. Over the past twenty-five years, a political entrepreneur-Ellen Malcolm, a cadre of liberal feminist activists, and thousands of liberal feminist women and men have transformed EMILY’s List into a multi-…

Politicians Affairs

without comments

politicians affairs
Should politicians get involved in military affairs?

Personally I don’t think politicians have any business in military affairs…and i hate when news media comes out with time tables…because in war there can’t be time tables…history has taught us this. Well anyways…i want to know what you guys think about this topic. Do senators with absolutely no military backround be able to question a high ranking military official/commander? I think they just keep their dirty little hands out of the military and let our men in arms do their job…instead of being questioned by people that have an entirely different job…running the country…not other countries. So with that said… what do you think?
I know congress sends us in the the first place But i just wish that politicians like would have to study military tactics so they would have some familiarization with the topic.

Yes, only Congress has the power to declare war. The military serves the government. Congress provides the funding for the military and the President commands the military. The Pentagon reports to the President. The military submits its budget to Congress for approval.

Congress should be a watchdog agency. Members of the military and the Pentagon appear regularly before Congress to inform them of their needs, wants, and reasons for needing them.

The control of the military by the civilian government was one of the most important issues in our founding documents. It prevents military coups as you have seen in other countries. Most importantly, the US has a government by the people. Your congressmen represent you and you control the government and the military. I know, we have drifted afar from this ideal. It’s up to you to control your representatives by writing letters and voting.
